The District Medical Office, DMO of Bangem Health District, Dr. Nkeng Fobellah, has disclosed they are on high alert to tackle potential health threats in the district.

The DMO was speaking in Bangem on March 9, 2026, on the occasion of the Flag Hoisting Ceremony at the Bangem District Hospital, presided by the Senior Divisional Officer of Kupe Muanenguba, Nguia Beina Theophile.
He said from reproductive health to disease surveillance, their team of healthcare professionals is dedicated to providing quality care.

“Malaria treatment is another key area of focus, with Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLINs) provided free to pregnant women and children. We also treats HIV and TB patients free of charge. We are involved in campaign efforts to combat these diseases.” The doctor added.

According to Dr. Fobellah, with 13 health facilities across six health areas, they offer free family planning, deliveries, and treatment for gender-based violence. He said they also offer universal health coverage, ensuring that everyone has access to essential healthcare.

“Our disease surveillance team works tirelessly to monitor and respond to outbreaks, including COVID-19 and monkey pox. We also offer international vaccination services, including yellow fever for travelers.” He added.

The doctor revealed that, the District is a beacon of hope for the community. “ Our commitment to providing quality healthcare is evident in our range of services, making healthcare accessible to all.”

Meanwhile the Director of Bangem District Hospital, Dr. Esambe Emmanuel talked on different types of diabetes, and cautioned the population to always carry out sugar test to know their diabetic situation.

At the end of the ceremony, the Director and team conducted free screening exercises, and sugar test on everyone at the flag hoisting ceremony.
