The Kupe Muanenguba community is in mourning following the death of Hope Sona Ebai, Board Chairman of the Cameroon Development Corporation (CDC), who passed away in Douala on March 4, 2026.
A native of Manyemen, Nguti Sub Division, Kupe Muanenguba Division, Ebai was a respected leader and stalwart of the community.

In a press release from the General Manager of CDC, Franklin Ngoni Njie, he said the Board Chairman died at the General Hospital in Douala after a brief illness. He said as Chairman of the Board of Directors of CDC since May 27, 2021, Hope Sona Ebai has been instrumental in guiding the Corporation towards recovery.

“The Board of Directors, the Management and employees of the CDC extends deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues. The funeral program shall be communicated in due course.” The GM’s release states.
Ebai’s passing has left a void in the community, with many expressing their condolences. His contributions to Kupe Muanenguba and Cameroon’s development will be remembered especially in the coffee and cocoa sector.

He was the first Director General of the National Coffee and Cocoa Board, ONCC, former Secretary General of the Alliance of Cocoa Production Countries, COPAL.
The Late Hope Sona Ebai was a contender to the Manyemen Chieftaincy stool.
