Speaking to The Ultimate<\/em> ahead of the International Women’s Day, she said though much focused is on \u00a0violence against women, \u201cit\u2019s essential to acknowledge a lesser-known issue: domestic violence against men. Society can support men in this situation. As well.\u201d She added.<\/p>\n

According to Lieutenant Ebude, men often suffer in silence due to societal expectations and shame. To break this silence, she emphasizes the importance of dialogue and counselling. \u201cEngaging in dialogue and counselling is key,\u201d she says, highlighting the need for a safe space for men to open up.<\/p>\n

As a community leader, Lieutenant Dorah practices what she preaches. She\u2019s involved in various initiatives, including sponsoring girl children to school and counselling women in crisis. Her advice to women in her region is equally applicable to supporting men in domestic violence: diversify income sources, acquire new skills, and change mindsets.<\/p>\n

To support men, society needs to shift its perspective. \u201cMen are not alone; they need support and compassion too,\u201d Lieutenant Dorah implies. By creating a culture where men feel comfortable speaking out, we can help them address their situation.<\/p>\n

As we celebrate Women\u2019s Day, let\u2019s extend our support to men experiencing domestic violence. Let\u2019s work together to break the stigma and create a society where everyone can speak out without fear of judgment.<\/p>\n

In her extra curricular activities, the Gendarmerie Lieutenant serves as Secretary General of Nyasoso Cultural and Development Association, NYACUDA. She composes songs and anthem in akose (Bakossi dialect) for NYACUDA and Nyasoso Wives and Daughters Association, NYAWIDDA. Through her initiative, Boissons du Cameroun donated 10 computers and one printer each to GBHS Bangem and GHS Nyasoso in 2025.<\/p>\n
