Gloom and sorrow gripped Nyan village as Mbong Michael Mbine, Deputy Director General of the Urban and Rural Lands Development and Equipment Authority, MAETUR, was laid to rest. Family, friends, colleagues, and dignitaries turned out in large numbers to bid farewell to the illustrious son of Nyan, remembered for his dedication to service and contributions to national development.<\/p>\n

The final journey of the statesman began on April 9, 2026, with removal of the mortal remains from the Yaounde General Hospital Mortuary, and a vigil mass till dawn at his residence at Simbock Grande Chefferie.<\/p>\n

On April 10, 2026, the mortal remains were transported to his native Nyan village, Bangem Sub Division, Kupe Muanenguba Division. A vigil mass took place at his residence, followed by cultural animation till dawn.<\/p>\n

Saturday, April 11, started with a requiem mass at the deceased\u2019s compound, followed by eulogies and burial.<\/p>\n

In her eulogy, the deceased\u2019s wife, Ekundime Gifty Nzunge epse Mbong, thanked her late husband for the beautiful moments they shared together for 25 years in marriage. \u201cGo well, Papa, my son, my love, my hero. I am proud of you, even in death. I love you, my husband. You will forever remain in my heart,\u201d she cried.<\/p>\n

Biography
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Late Mbong Michael Mbine was born on June 16, 1968, in Nyan village. He attended primary school in Nkikoh village where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate. He later moved to Government Secondary School, Nguti, where he obtained his Ordinary Level Certificate, and Advanced Level Certificate at Government High School, Kumbo, North West Region. Late Mbong enrolled in the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences and obtained a Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Private Law from the University of Yaounde I.

In 1996, he successfully passed the entrance examination into ENAM and after two years of training, he graduated as a Civil Administrator. From 1999 to 2000, he worked at the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralization, MINATD. In 2001, he was appointed 1st Assistant Senior Divisional Officer of Wouri, Douala.<\/p>\n

In 2005, Late Mbong Michael was appointed Director of Land Affairs, in the Ministry of State Property, Surveys and Land Tenure, MINDCAF. In 2006, he was appointed Director of State Property, MINDCAF; 2010, Technical Adviser No. 2, MINDCAF; 2011 to 2012, representative of MINDCAF at the Administrative Council of the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority, CCAA.

On September 13, 2012, Late Mbong Michael was appointed Deputy DG of MAETUR, a position he occupied until his death on January 29, 2026.<\/p>\n

Late Mbong also served the Cameroon People\u2019s Democratic Movement, CPDM, with conviction, devotion, and faithfulness. In 2016, he was appointed Charg\u00e9 de Mission of the Central Committee Permanent Divisional Delegation for Kupe Muanenguba.<\/p>\n

In 2018, he served in the Divisional Supervisory Commission for vote counting during the Presidential Elections. In 2023, he was designated Chairperson in Charge of the Investiture of the CPDM list of municipal councilors for the Tombel Council elections. In 2025, he served as the CPDM representative for the Kupe Muanenguba Divisional Supervisory Commission for the October 12 Presidential Elections.<\/p>\n

Late Mbong Michael leaves behind his wife, six children, brothers, sisters, relatives, friends, colleagues, and many loved ones to mourn him.<\/p>\n

Present at the funeral ceremony was the Inspector General of MINATD, Nkwelle Ngome, who also represented the Central Committee of the CPDM; SDO, Mayo Sanaga, Sone Clement Ngoe; Secretary General, Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, MINHDU, Nah Maturin; SDO, Kupe Muanenguba, Nguia Beina Theophile; Director General, MAETUR, Manga Roger; Representative of the Prime Minister, Amana Esoa; the Divisional Officer, DO of Buea, Abba Abdoraman; DO, Bangem, Dairou Saly; the Mayor of Tombel, Ngassa Rose; representative of MINDCAF, Belibi Roger Raoul; Technical Adviser at the Presidency, George Ewane Ngide; the Member of Parliament for Eyumojock, Hon. Teku Teku Tanyi, amongst others.<\/p>\n
