A roundtable discussion organized by the Summa Cum Laude Sango Madiba Information and Learning Resource Centre (SCL-ILRC) and the Veronique Ntube Sita Foundation, has revitalized academic excellence at Government Secondary School, GSS Muebah-Nninong.

The roundtable which took place on March 10, 2026, at the SCL-ILRC Muebah-Nninong, brought together school authorities, community leaders, and students, to address challenges faced by scholarship recipients, disburse the second installment of awards, and motivate students towards academic excellence.

In her welcome address, Mejang Jennet Abwe, representing the donors disclosed that sometime in August 2025, the Veronique Ntube Sita Foundation, Mr. And Mrs. Nkong Makoge, in collaboration with the Ephriam Abwe Diabe Platforms of Excellence (EAD-PFE), and partners, awarded scholarships to 30 Form One students at GSS Muebah to boost enrollment and reward top performance.

However, she said only 12 students returned to school, raising concerns about the initiative’s effectiveness.
She said the pattern of inconsistent engagement and unmet commitments among some scholarship recipients has raised concerns regarding the achievement of the original objectives of the partnership, hence the need for the present round table discussion.

The Donors’ representative detailed that the scholarships, ranged from FCFA 15.000 to FCFA 100.000.
Mejang called on form five students to work hard in order to score 100 percent at the next General Certificate of Education GCE exams. “This is the best time to start working. The donors and partners have prepared huge motovation packages for you. 100% (percent) at the GCE means FCFA 50.000 motivation to each student, FCFA 300.000 for the teachers, and every ‘A’ grade score means additional FCFA 20.000 to the student.” She disclosed.

During the discussions, students raised challenges like like bullying in school, poor infrastructure of the school campus, and frequent electricity cuts, amongst others. However, they were grateful with opportunities from the donors and partners like supportive teachers, and access to a digital learning center.

The roundtable concluded with a renewed commitment to support education and encourage students to strive for academic excellence. A final meeting is planned for April or May 2026 to evaluate progress.
