The Senior Divisional Officer for Kupe Muanenguba, Nguia Beina Theophile, and the Divisional Officer for Bangem Subdivision, Dairou Saly, have launched a mobilization campaign ahead of the 4th General Population and Housing Census, GPHC, and the General Census on Agriculture and Livestock, GCAL, urging full participation from all communities.

During a stakeholders’ meeting at the SDO’s office on April 15, 2026, Nguia called on divisional officers, divisional delegates, and forces of law and order to strategically mobilize the population of Kupe Muanenguba for a successful census.

The SDO said the count will guide government planning for farm support and rural infrastructure.

In a public announcement signed on April 22, 2026, he said the census will take place from April 24 to June 12, 2026, in all villages and towns of the country. He invited the entire population to collaborate with enumerators in the field to facilitate their work.

Meanwhile, at a sensitization meeting with traditional and religious authorities and community leaders of Bangem Subdivision, Dairou told them to carry out proximity sensitization in their various villages and communities for the exercise to succeed.

He said data from the census is critical for government to plan rural development projects, including roads, farm inputs, and support to villages, and urged the population to cooperate with enumerators.

The DO assured the population that information collected will be confidential and will be used only for the purpose of the census. Dairou also told the chiefs to revamp vigilante committees and ensure they work and collaborate effectively with the administration to fight insecurity.

Speaking to The Ultimate, Julius Mofor, Census Controller of Bangem Subdivision, said 35 enumerators have been trained to work in the field, with eight crew leaders. He expressed optimism that, following the training, enumerators are ready to cover the entire subdivision.
