Nyasoso sons and daughters have celebrated their rich cultural tapestry, heritage, and pride in the just-ended Nyasoso Cultural and Development Association, NYACUDA, Annual Ngande é Nziog Festival 2026.

The festival, showcasing the community’s vibrant traditions, customs, and values, brought together Nyasoso children from all walks of life to reconnect with their roots and revel in the spirit of unity and pride. It took place on April 4, 2026, in Nyasoso, under the theme, “Building Local Capacity while Fostering Sustainable Development.”

In his address, NYACUDA President General Thomas Ndobe’bage said the ceremony provides an opportunity to reflect on milestones covered, celebrate achievements, and showcase resilience.

He enumerated some achievements, including sourcing funds for the Nyasoso Integrated Health Centre created in 2023, refurbishing the Nyasoso Community Hall, sourcing funds from the South West Regional Assembly for solar panel installation, and the Swene Stream water project to increase potable water supply.

However, the president lamented that some persons have decided to criticize NYACUDA negatively, while others have refused to contribute to development projects. He urged everyone to support development efforts to achieve collective dream projects for Nyasoso.

Organizing Committee Chairman Nkwelle Alfred Njikang called on all to honor their ancestors and inspire others with commitments to cultural preservation and sustainable development. “Let this celebration of 2026 be more than a dance and song. Let us support a neighbor’s farm, mentor a young entrepreneur, jointly realize community projects, protect a river, or simply share an inspiring story,” he added.

Njikang lauded the Divisional Officer of Tombel Sub Division, Nyam Leonard and other elites for their contributions to making Nyasoso great again.

In his remarks, DO Nyam Leonard congratulated NYACUDA on the Annual Ngande é Nziog Festival 2026, saying Nyasoso, the seat of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, PCC, radiates faith and forgiveness over a century.

“Nyasoso remains the cradle of education, seat of wisdom, and host to knowledge and power,” he said.

The Divisional Officer urged NYACUDA’s current executive to follow President Emeritus Herbert Ediage’s path, who contributed to opening streets in Nyasoso and planning the town.

He called on Nyasoso sons and daughters to bury their egos, embracing humility and unity for Nyasoso to remain a watershed of local development.

Highlights included traditional dance performances, wrestling displays, prize awards, and fundraising for a water project.

Also present were H.E. Herbert Ediage, Board Chair of the South West Development Authority, SOWEDA/NYACUCOOP, the President General of Nyasoso Wives and Daughters Development Association, NYAWIDDA, Senior Commissioner of Police Alobwede Mado Nzelle, and NYACUDA National Secretary General Lieutenant Ebude Ekinde Dorah, traditional rulers of Nyasoso, amongst others.
