Sons and daughters of the Abongoe clan, Babubock, Nguti Sub-Division, Kupe Muanenguba Division, are jubilating as the ongoing construction of the Bangem-Nguti road reaches their village and neighboring communities.

In a thanksgiving ceremony that took place on March 28, 2026, Bejange, Balog, Bermin, Ebasse, Ekanjo-Bajoh, and Muedime villages joined the population of Babubock to celebrate the miracle of the Bangem-Nguti road.

The celebrants heartily thanked President Paul Biya for authorizing the construction and tarring of the road, and the Deputy Secretary General at the Presidency of the Republic, Minister Elung Paul Che, for fighting for the road project.

Speaking at the ceremony, the National President of the Abongoe Cultural and Development Association, ABOCUDA, Ndene Sone Ngupoe, disclosed that they are rejoicing because the road puts an end to their long suffering.

He lamented that since there was no motorable road from Bangem to Babubock or Nguti to Babubock, they were locked in pain as their farm products rotted in the bushes without access to the market. “Can you imagine that we pay FCFA 10,000 from Bangem to Babubock, a 16km distance? We had challenges transporting food and cash crops to the market, and since the road was inaccessible, buyers could not come to the village, inflicting pain and poverty on the population,” Ndene disclosed.

He said they are tired of transporting corpses on their heads and, at times, spending huge sums on motorbikes to bring corpses to the village. “Corpses coming to our villages deserve last honors,” the President added.

“We are excited to see caterpillars and bulldozers in Babubock for the first time. We are celebrating the BIR workers. This is a miracle.” He rejoiced.

Also, Nhon Mbong Michael Ebong, Chairman of the Babubock Traditional Council, said they were completely enclaved and cut off from their administrative headquarters.

“We have suffered seriously in this village. The absence of a road posed a serious health challenge because patients could not trek long distances for medical attention, leading to an increase in the death rate,” he regretted.

Nhon Ebong said with a motorable road, development projects will sprout from all angles in the village.

Nhon Prince Ewange Juvet Awang, an elite of Babubock and Public Relations Officer of ABOCUDA, called on sons and daughters of Babubock to strategize and invest back home, because where a road passes, development follows.

According to Chief James Kome of Ndibe village, the road will improve their living standard because the cost of transporting a bag of cocoa to Bangem will drop significantly from FCFA 25,000 to FCFA 2,000.
