In a strong call to action, Justice Pamela Mesumbe, Judge and Examining Magistrate at the Fako High Court – Buea, South West Region, is urging women to break their silence and seek help when faced with violence or rights violations.

“Don’t Suffer in Silence”, she emphasizes, encouraging women to turn to social services and the courts for support and justice.

Here’s her message to women facing violence: “Flee from whatever is causing you pain.”

In an exclusive interview with The Ultimate Newspaper, Justice Mesumbe emphasizes the importance of women seeking help from social services and the courts when their rights are violated.

According to the Magistrate, financial constraints and ignorance are major obstacles to women accessing justice in Cameroon. “Women should be encouraged to empower themselves so as to be financially viable and also attend seminars and workshops to acquire knowledge,” she advises.

The magistrate identifies physical, emotional, verbal, and sexual harassment as common forms of violence faced by women, and assures that the courts will punish perpetrators accordingly. “Men must know that although women are the weaker sex, they are human beings with equal rights,” she stresses.

Justice Mesumbe’s message to women is clear: empower yourselves, lift each other up, and shun violence.

To girls, she advises: “Study hard and avoid the wrong use of social media.” Her advice to women goes beyond Women’s Day: “Think beyond the fabric and empower yourselves.”

As a champion of women’s rights, Justice Mesumbe’s stance on violence against women is unequivocal. Her commitment to justice and empowerment is an inspiration to many, and her message is a call to action for all.

Justice Mesumbe hails from Kack-Muasundem, Tombel Sub Division, Kupe Muanenguba Division.
